Romania secures second victory at the European League tournament in Riga

The Romanian national volleyball team celebrated a solid performance, achieving their second victory at the tournament in Riga. They triumphed over Israel with a convincing score of 3-0, showcasing their skills and teamwork.

In this match, Romania set the pace with set scores of 25-18, 25-23, and 25-23. This victory follows their earlier win against the host country Latvia, where they won 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.

The tournament in Riga marks the beginning of their journey in the European League 2026, which features 26 competing teams. The final day of the tournament will see Latvia face off against Israel, concluding this exciting round.

Looking ahead, Romania's upcoming matches are scheduled for 12-14 June in Blaj, where they will compete against Albania and Montenegro. Following that, they will participate in another tournament in Lithuania from 19-21 June, taking on Portugal and Lithuania.

The stakes are high, as the top four teams from the general ranking will qualify for the Final Four tournament. This league serves as a crucial preparation stage for Romania, who will compete in the European Championship from 21 August to 6 September 2026, joining a challenging group that includes Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Azerbaijan.
