Diana Faur Secures Bronze at European MTB Youth Championship

In a remarkable display of talent, 14-year-old Diana Faur clinched the bronze medal in the Short Track (XCC) event at the U15 category during the European MTB Youth Championship held at Cheile Grădiştei. This achievement adds to her impressive resume, which already includes a vice-champion title in the XCO (Cross Country Olympic) event at just 13 years old last year, along with recent national championships in both road and mountain biking for children.

Diana led the race for two laps, showcasing her competitive spirit and skill. However, she experienced a slip that caused her to lose two places towards the end of the race. The podium for the U15 category also featured Sita Heiny from Germany in first place and Pavlina Kejzlarova from the Czech Republic in second.

Representing the boys in the same event, Bogdan Flus finished in 33rd place after qualifying in 9th during the individual time trial. The boys' podium was topped by Emil Oom from Germany, followed by Krystof Simecek and Ondrej Hejzek from the Czech Republic.

In the U17 category, Romanian athletes Roland Szigyarto and Milan Bartha, both members of ACS A Pedal Forward, competed admirably. Szigyarto finished in 7th place, while Bartha secured 16th. The U17 podium included Tijl Vanhaverbeke from Belgium, Ondrej Bukovsky from the Czech Republic, and Aubin Favre from Switzerland.

Taking place from July 22 to July 26, 2026, the European MTB Youth Championship is set to feature hundreds of athletes from 32 countries. This event not only promotes mountain biking in Romania but also showcases the new generation of athletes on the international stage, highlighting their hard work and dedication.
