New Wind Power Plant Set to Boost Renewable Energy in Galați
The approval for the establishment of a new wind power capacity at the Frumușița Vector Wind Farm is on the horizon, as the Regulatory Committee of ANRE prepares to adopt the decision this week. This project, led by VECTOR WIND EXPERT SRL, promises to enhance Romania's renewable energy landscape.
The wind farm will boast a production capacity of 24 MW and is strategically located in Galați, near another wind farm operated by Eurowind Energy, which is currently under construction with a capacity of 66 MW. Once ANRE issues the establishment authorization, the developer must secure financing for the construction of this energy capacity, with construction expected to commence swiftly thereafter.
Eurowind Energy, a Danish investor, is at the helm of this initiative and has been active in Romania since 2011. The company has made significant strides in the renewable energy sector, with a pipeline of approximately 7.5 GW in various stages of development. By the end of Q2 2026, Eurowind aims to reach an operational capacity of 184 MW in Romania, including 60 MW of battery storage from the Teiuș project.
The Frumușița Vector project has qualified for the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, with a competitive price of 74 euros/MWh. Eurowind has already placed orders for Vestas turbines of 6.2 MW for this wind farm and two additional projects, demonstrating their commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions.
In addition to the wind projects, Eurowind Energy's portfolio includes four operational solar parks in Hălchiu, Măgurele, Pufești, and Teiuș. With over 700 employees and operations in 16 markets across Europe and the United States, Eurowind Energy A/S continues to be a leader in the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy parks.
