Jovo Lukic has marked a significant milestone by scoring his first goal for the Bosnia national team during the World Cup. This achievement came in a match against Canada, which ended in a 1-1 draw, held in Toronto.

Lukic's goal is particularly notable as he became the first foreign player in the history of the Superligă to score at a World Cup. Standing at 193 cm tall, he not only made an impact on the scoreboard but also dominated in the air, winning all 9 aerial duels during his 62 minutes on the pitch. This performance set a new record for the most aerial duels won at a World Cup, surpassing the previous record of 8 by Salif Sane in 2018.

In addition to his World Cup achievement, Lukic had an impressive season scoring 20 goals for 'U' Cluj, and his success on the international stage marks him as the first player from a Romanian first-league club to find the net at a World Cup in 32 years. The last player to do so was Ilie Dumitrescu, who scored in 1994.

As Bosnia prepares for their next match against Switzerland in just five days, Lukic is expected to maintain his position as a key player in the team. Meanwhile, Canada will be facing Qatar in the second round of their group stage.
