Danubius Arena opens its doors in Tulcea with a celebratory inaugural match

The newly completed Danubius Arena in Tulcea is set to welcome its first spectators in just two days. This multi-purpose hall, which boasts a capacity of 4,447 seats, will be inaugurated on July 31 at 1:30 PM with an exciting match between Portugal and the Netherlands. Admission for fans to this inaugural event is free, marking a significant moment for the community and sports enthusiasts alike.

Constructed at a cost of approximately 25 million euros, the Danubius Arena covers a built area of 15,125.90 square meters. It features modern amenities, including team and official changing rooms, media facilities, and a full-size training hall for handball. Additionally, the venue offers a subterranean parking area with 78 spaces, ensuring convenience for visitors.

Looking ahead, Tulcea will play host to the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket 2026, Division B, from July 31 to August 9, 2026. This event will shine a spotlight on the region, showcasing the new arena's capabilities and enhancing Tulcea's reputation as a vibrant sports hub.

Romania’s national team will also take to the court in the newly minted arena, starting with their opening match against Azerbaijan on the same day as the arena's inauguration. They will continue their journey in the tournament with additional matches against Iceland, Portugal, and the Netherlands, promising an exciting week of basketball for fans and players alike.
