Romania set to host U18 Women's Handball World Championship
The excitement is building as Romania prepares to host the U18 Women’s Handball World Championship from July 29 to August 9, 2026. With 32 national teams competing, the tournament promises to showcase the best young talent in the sport.
Romania's team, led by coach Victorina Bora, is placed in Group F alongside China, Kazakhstan, and Uruguay. The matches for this group will take place in Pitești, where Romania will aim to secure its spot in the next round.
The preliminary round matches for Romania U18 are scheduled for July 29, 30, and August 1. The team will kick off its campaign against Uruguay at 18:30 on July 29, followed by a match against Kazakhstan the next day. They will conclude the group stage with a match against China on August 1.
In preparation for the championship, Romania U18 recently participated in the 'Trofeul Carpați NIRO - U18 Feminin' tournament, where they secured a commendable second-place finish. The team showcased its skills with victories over Tunisia and Japan, while also holding Egypt to a draw.
Romania will be aiming for success in the championship, as only the top two teams from each preliminary group will advance to the main rounds, ultimately leading to the quarterfinals.
