10 Jun 2026, 09:48

The ASTROFEST 2026 is set to be the largest festival of science and astronomy in Romania, taking place on June 12-13, 2026, at Parcul Crângaşi in Bucharest. This exciting event will gather researchers, esteemed institutions, educational organizations, and thousands of science enthusiasts of all ages.

Organized by the magazine Ştiinţă & Tehnică and the Association Science & Technology, ASTROFEST has the support of both the Bucharest Municipality and the Sector 6 City Hall. This year’s edition promises to be spectacular, featuring the country’s largest telescopes, as well as engaging conferences led by specialists in the field.

Visitors can look forward to an array of activities, including robotics and drone demonstrations, interactive experiments, and themed exhibitions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy astronomical observations and participate in the European Astrophotography Salon, along with the Science & SF & Animation Film Festival.

A highlight of the festival will be the presence of Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu, Romania's only cosmonaut, as the guest of honor. His participation will mark the 45th anniversary of his historic space flight, inspiring a new generation of explorers.

Children will be particularly engaged with creative workshops at the stand of the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest. They can join activities like 'Building and Painting Planets', 'Building and Decorating Space Rockets', and 'The Universe on Canvas', which will allow them to explore the solar system through play and imagination. Additionally, the workshop 'Personalize Your Bookmark' merges reading with creativity and a passion for the Universe.

The festival will also feature the 'Licurici' Puppet Theater, which is the first and only puppet theater within a metropolitan library. Two performances, 'The Extraterrestrial' and 'A Stone from the Moon', are scheduled for June 12 and 13, respectively, promising to blend imagination, adventure, and the joy of discovery.

Best of all, access to ASTROFEST 2026 will be free, making it an inclusive event for everyone, encouraging curiosity and a love for science and exploration.
