Showcasing Mureş: A Journey Through UNESCO Heritage and Local Development
From May 27 to 30, 2026, a significant presentation tour organized by Asociaţia Visit Mureş and Clubul Presei de Turism - FIJET România highlighted the commercial offerings of the Mureş region. This initiative not only brought attention to the area's natural beauty but also its rich cultural heritage, especially with the inclusion of Saschiz and Sighişoara in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
During the tour, the delegation explored the charming locality of Saschiz and the historic municipality of Sighişoara, both renowned for their unique architectural beauty. The visit allowed local economic operators to showcase their development projects in logistics and transportation, crucial for enhancing regional connectivity and tourism.
The program also included an in-depth analysis of various hospitality units, focusing on the expanding accommodation capacities in the area. Notable sites such as the Valea Verde Retreat and the famous Crama Villa Vinea in Cund were part of this exploration, alongside a thorough evaluation of facilities in the health resort of Sovata and the municipality of Târgu Mureş.
Local representatives discussed integrating regional producers into supply chains, fostering a more sustainable economy. Key figures like Cristina Iliescu, the destination manager for Colinele Transilvaniei, and Dima Toderica, president of Asociaţia Dor de Sighişoara, shared insights on promoting local products and enhancing the visitor experience.
Ioan Lazăr, owner of Hotelul Sighişoara, presented the evolution of local tourism infrastructure projects, emphasizing the importance of modernizing facilities and expanding ecotourism initiatives. The management from Sovata also outlined their commercial offerings, which have been significantly improved due to recent investments aimed at modernizing wellness facilities and exploiting the natural attractions surrounding Lacul Ursu.
This promotional action is part of Mureş County's strategy for monitoring and enhancing its tourism potential, paving the way for a brighter, more integrated future for the region.
