Romania attracts over 35,000 international students with affordable education and vibrant student life

The number of international students studying in Romania has surpassed 35,000, a significant milestone achieved last year. This growth over the past decade highlights Romania's increasing appeal as a destination for higher education.

Most of these students are enrolled in medical and pharmacy programs. Popular university centers such as Bucharest, Iași, and Timișoara are attracting attention, while Cluj has emerged as a favorite among thousands of students from Europe, particularly for its safe environment and vibrant student life.

Many students from Western Europe are drawn to Romania primarily due to lower tuition fees compared to major Western metropolises. Additionally, the welcoming atmosphere and quality of life in cities like Cluj enhance its attractiveness as a study destination.

At the Faculty of Medicine, students often find that competition for English or French language programs is higher than for Romanian tracks, reflecting the international interest in these courses. This trend encourages many foreign students to learn Romanian swiftly and integrate into the local community.

Among these students is Paloma Crespo, who was recommended to attend a course in Cluj by her peers at a language school in Madrid. Similarly, Paco, a Spanish national working in Brussels, has been encouraged by his colleagues to learn Romanian, further illustrating the growing connections between international students and Romanian culture.
