Romania U20 secures a victory against South Korea U20 in World Championship
Romania U20 emerged victorious against South Korea U20 with a score of 26-22 on June 30, 2026. This match marked their second game in the main group II, showcasing their resilience despite earlier challenges.
Unfortunately, the team could not reach the quarter-finals after losing their first match in the group against Spain. Ultimately, Romania U20 finished group II in third place, which means they will compete for final rankings between 9th and 12th on July 2-3.
In the quarter-finals, Germany and Spain secured their spots, with a thrilling match between them ending in a narrow 29-28 victory for Germany. The quarter-finals are set to take place on July 2, followed by the semi-finals on July 3 and the medal finals on July 5.
Romania’s U20 team has a proud history, having won two world titles in 1995 and 1999. In the previous World Championship in 2024, they finished in 11th place, and they aim to improve their ranking in the current competition.
The squad includes talented goalkeepers Ioana Niță, Anastasia Roșu, and Beatrice Tunariu. On the left wing, the team features Alexia Niță and Daria Mihăilă, while Gabriela Tulea and Sara Trușcă play on the right wing. The 9-meter line consists of Enryka Bodijar, Mioara Ciubotaru, Bianca Vintilă, Teodora Damian, Evelyn Marton, Anamaria Șerban, Martina Stan, Alexandra Voicu, and Riana Rusu.
