Romania launches major program to revitalize local production
In a significant move to boost its economy, Romania has introduced its first major program aimed at revitalizing local production. This initiative, spearheaded by the interim government, is set to receive over 5 billion lei in support, focusing on the national manufacturing industry.
The program, developed by the Ministry of Finance, will facilitate investments ranging from 5 to 10 million lei. It is designed to support factories in acquiring new production lines and technological equipment, ensuring that local industries can thrive in the competitive market.
Additionally, the program will provide grants to sectors where Romania currently imports significantly, but has the potential to produce goods locally. This strategic approach aims to reduce dependency on foreign products while promoting domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Financial agreements related to this initiative are expected to be issued between 2026 and 2032, with payments scheduled from 2027 to 2036. This long-term commitment underscores the government's dedication to strengthening the local economy.
On another front, a separate decision has been made to extend the state aid scheme by three years, with a total value of 1.2 billion lei. This scheme is specifically designed to support the production of audiovisual works within Romania, further enhancing the cultural and creative sectors.
These initiatives reflect a coordinated effort among various state institutions, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Internal Affairs, Defense, and others, to ensure that Romania not only meets international sanctions correctly but also fosters a robust local production environment.
