Poli Timișoara celebrates promotion to Liga 2 with new stadium plans
Poli Timișoara has officially promoted to Liga 2, marking a significant achievement for the club and its supporters. As they celebrate this milestone, preparations are underway for the team's future at the new stadium 'Eroii Timișoarei'.
The new arena in Banat will cover an impressive area of 9,000 square meters and will have a seating capacity of 10,101. This venue will serve as the home ground for Poli Timișoara until the larger Dan Păltinișanu stadium is completed.
A substantial investment of 140 million euros is planned for a future stadium with a capacity of 32,000 seats, which will become the second largest in the country after Arena Națională. Dinu Bara, the general director of Poli Timișoara, has indicated that the handover process of the investment to the Timișoara City Hall could begin as early as September.
Excitingly, the new arena is expected to open in the second half of the 2027 season, and Dinu Bara has expressed hope that the team will begin playing at 'Eroii Timișoarei' immediately after the winter break.
Meanwhile, Iosif Rotariu, head of the scouting department at Poli Timișoara, has shared insights from a recent interview, noting that local businesspeople are increasingly interested in the new stadium. He emphasized the rich tradition and history of the club and the community's desire to see the team competing in the top tier of Romanian football once again.
