Mădălina Florea secures victory in Golden Trail World Series

Mădălina Florea, the most renowned long-distance mountain runner in Romania, has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the competition in the Golden Trail World Series in 2025. With 600 points in the series, she has firmly established herself as a top contender in international mountain running.

At 33 years old and hailing from Sighișoara, Mădălina has a history of impressive performances. She secured fourth place in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the European Athletics U23 Championships in 2015 and finished seventh in the half marathon at the European Athletics Championships in 2016. Her victory at the Bucharest Half Marathon in 2019 further showcased her abilities.

Mădălina's accolades continued to grow with a silver medal at the European Mountain Running Championships in El Paso, Spain, in 2022, and three medals at the European Championships in 2024, including bronze in uphill and up-and-down events. She also claimed bronze with the Romanian national team.

Meanwhile, fellow athlete Mădălina Amariei has also made significant strides in the Golden Trail World Series, amassing 246 points. At 31 years old, she was born in Aninoasa, Hunedoara, and moved to Oradea for her university studies in tourism. Since running her first mountain race in 2022, she has quickly made a name for herself.

Amariei has won the Retezat SkyRace in both 2023 and 2024 and claimed the National Long-Distance Mountain Running Championship in 2024 and again in 2026. Her impressive performances continue with several second-place finishes in various competitions, including the Skyrunning European Championships in 2025 and the Val d'Aran by UTMB in 2026.

On the men's side, 37-year-old Bogdan Damian, competing for the Kailas FUGA Team, has earned 377 points in the Golden Trail World Series. A major in the Romanian Army, he has also achieved several accolades, including medals at the NATO Cross in 2019 and the Military Running Challenge in 2023. His dedication to both his country and the sport is evident in his accomplishments, including medals at the Military Winter World Games in 2025.

The next race in the Golden Trail World Series is set for August 1, 2026, in the stunning mountain region of Tirol, Austria. As these athletes continue to push boundaries and represent Romania on the world stage, they inspire many with their commitment and passion for mountain running.
