The future of sports in Timișoara is looking bright with plans for a new stadium that will boast over 32,000 seats. This ambitious project is set to make it the largest stadium in the country after the Arena Națională.

The current stadium, 'Dan Păltinișanu', has been demolished due to significant deterioration, making way for this exciting new development. Funded by a substantial investment of approximately 140 million euros, the construction will feature a concrete foundation, a metal structure, and covered stands, meeting UEFA and IFAB's category 4 standards.

Alfred Simonis has confirmed that the Consiliul Județean Timiș has already transferred 1,330,000 euros to the Primăria Timișoara for initial works. Additionally, they have covered 18 million lei of the 20 million lei allocated for the project so far. The construction is progressing well, and builders assure that the stadium will be completed by this year, allowing the local team, Poli, to play home matches there starting next year.

In the meantime, 13,000 seats from the previous stadium have been distributed to other sports grounds in Timiș County, ensuring that these resources continue to benefit the community. With the new arena’s design expected to take eight months and actual construction lasting two years, Timișoara is poised for a remarkable upgrade in its sports infrastructure.
