CSM Unirea Alba Iulia strengthens team ambition with new signings and coach
CSM Unirea Alba Iulia is gearing up for a strong season with hopes of promotion to Liga 2. The club has made significant strides this summer, bringing in 16 new players to bolster their squad.
At the helm of this ambitious project is Cristi Pustai, who has recently been appointed as the head coach. His leadership is expected to guide the team through the challenges ahead, as they aim to make a mark in the league.
Among the notable signings are several players from Gloria Bistriţa, including Raul Avram, Marius Chindriş, Paul Chiorean, Dănuţ Covaci, Victor Oluwadare Ayeni, and Gabriel Tonini. Their addition to the team is part of a broader strategy, which includes a budget of approximately 1.2 million euros.
The club's efforts also receive support from impresarul Bogdan Apostu, who has a history with Corvinul Hunedoara. Under his influence, Corvinul achieved promotion to the Superliga, and his involvement with CSM Unirea is seen as a positive step towards reaching their own goals.
In an interesting development, Gicu Grozav, a former player who began his youth career at Alba Iulia, is in advanced negotiations to join the team. Having recently parted ways with Petrolul, he is looking for a club closer to his home, particularly as his wife, Sorina, plays handball in Brașov. Grozav's experience and local roots could make him a valuable addition as CSM Unirea pursues its ambitions.
