A new exhibition showcases the deep-rooted ties between Romania and the United States
The National History Museum is currently hosting a significant exhibition titled "SUA – România. Istorie, diplomație și drumul spre democrație," which highlights the enduring partnership between Romania and the United States. Mayor Nicușor Dan emphasized the strength of this relationship, stating that it is more solid than ever.
At the exhibition's opening, organized under the High Patronage of the President of Romania and the auspices of the U.S. Embassy in Romania, Dan noted the value of looking back at history to pave the way for a brighter future. He expressed his eagerness to explore the exhibition, which features several highly valuable artifacts.
Among the treasures on display is a letter from November 20, 1880, in which the American president confirmed the recognition of Romania's independence to Prince Carol. This moment is a testament to the nearly linear historical journey shared by Romania and the United States.
Dan remarked on the strategic partnership that has been in place since July 1997, which was initiated by President Clinton's visit to Bucharest. He referred to the NATO summit in Ankara as a recent example of collaboration, emphasizing the importance of this partnership in security and economic exchanges.
Building trust is a gradual process, Dan noted, stating that it is constructed brick by brick. He encouraged as many people as possible to visit the exhibition, especially as the year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States' declaration of independence. This declaration, made on July 4, 1776, heralded the promotion of equality and the inalienable rights of man, principles that have revolutionized politics and society around the world in the centuries that followed.
