Valentin Badea is building a modern sports complex in Alexandria, marking a significant milestone for sports in Romania. This ambitious project, named Gică Hagi 2.0, has been in the works for 11 years and is set to include a variety of facilities catering to young athletes.

The complex will feature multiple sports fields, including a standard-sized pitch of 106m x 68m, a 60m x 40m field, and two covered pitches measuring 40m x 20m. Additionally, there will be two tennis courts and a sand court, ensuring a diverse range of sporting activities for the community.

Badea, a former FCSB player who famously scored a double against Standard Liege in 2006, is investing his personal finances into this project. He has sold everything he owned to make this dream a reality, with initial costs estimated between 250,000 and 280,000 euros for the first fields alone.

The construction began in March 2026, although work was temporarily halted due to weather conditions. Despite these challenges, Badea remains optimistic, estimating that the first fields will be completed within three months of the project’s restart.

Situated on Cernetu Road, just outside Alexandria, the complex will cover an area of 22,800 square meters. In addition to the athletic facilities, it will also include a hotel with 22 rooms, locker rooms, a gym, a conference room, a recovery room, and a medical cabinet.

Badea's passion for nurturing young talent is reflected in his football school, Young Steaua Alexandria, which currently has over 350 children enrolled. This sports complex aims to provide these young athletes with the resources and environment they need to thrive in their sports endeavors.
