UTA Arad welcomes World Cup goalkeeper Marcio Rosa to strengthen their squad
Marcio Rosa, a 29-year-old goalkeeper, has joined UTA Arad after his impressive participation in the 2026 World Cup with Cape Verde. Having been part of the squad that made it to the Round of 16, he brings valuable experience to the team.
Rosa, standing at 1.87 meters tall, has signed a one-season contract with UTA Arad, which includes an option for an additional year. With nine caps for the Cape Verde national team, he has previously played for various clubs including Chaves, Montalegre, Cova da Piedade, Vilafranquense, Anadia, and most recently, he was with Montana in Bulgaria.
His experience at the World Cup, where he served as a backup for Vozinha, has contributed to his personal growth as a player. Rosa has expressed his desire to bring the maturity gained from this prestigious tournament to UTA Arad, which is looking to improve its performance in the SuperLigă.
Currently, UTA Arad has struggled, earning only two points in their first four matches of the season, with draws against Oțelul and Rapid, alongside losses to Universitatea Craiova and FC Voluntari. Rosa's addition may provide the boost the team needs to turn their season around.
