Universitatea Craiova secures advancement to Conference League play-off

Universitatea Craiova has successfully advanced to the next round of the competition after defeating KuPS 2-1 in the return leg, securing a 3-2 victory on aggregate.

The team, managed by Filipe Coelho, showed resilience in the match. Despite an early setback when Valentin Gasc opened the scoring for KuPS in the 5th minute, Craiova fought back. Nsimba equalized for Craiova with a penalty in the 43rd minute, awarded for a handball in the area.

Carlos Mora then gave Craiova the lead in the 62nd minute, ensuring their progression to face Ararat Armenia in the upcoming play-off round. With this victory, Craiova has also guaranteed its participation in the Conference League.

In contrast, CFR Cluj faced a disappointing exit from UEFA competitions, losing to Tromso 2-1 in their return leg and 1-7 on aggregate. After a tough start, with Hien scoring for Tromso in the 6th minute and Vadebu doubling their advantage shortly after halftime, Cluj struggled to find their footing.

Although Korenica managed to score a consolation goal in the 78th minute, it was not enough to alter their fate, marking a challenging season for the team. The contrast in fortunes for Craiova and Cluj highlights the unpredictable nature of football, celebrating one team's success while mourning another's departure.
