Tulcea prepares for the grand opening of its new sports arena in 2026
The new Polivalent Hall in Tulcea is set to open its doors on July 31, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the region. This modern facility, with a capacity of just under 5,000 seats, represents an investment of approximately 25 million euros.
The hall will be inaugurated with a basketball match between Portugal and the Netherlands, scheduled for Friday at 13:30. In addition to this exciting opener, Romania's U18 national team will face Azerbaijan on the same day, showcasing local talent on a grand stage.
The FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket 2026, Division B, will take place from July 31 to August 9, 2026, in Tulcea, bringing together 20 national teams. This event promises to elevate the profile of basketball in the region and foster a love for sports among the community.
The Polivalent Hall in Tulcea features a main competition area and a training ground located in the basement below the main court. Additionally, the facility will include modern locker rooms, a press work area, conference rooms, and an underground parking space, ensuring it meets the needs of athletes, spectators, and media alike.
