Ștefania Uță achieves gold medal in 400m hurdles at World U20 Championships

Ștefania Uță has made headlines by winning the gold medal in the 400 meters hurdles final at the World U20 Championships held in Oregon, USA. Her outstanding performance included a career-best time of 55.33 seconds in the final, showcasing her exceptional talent.

In the semifinals, Ștefania secured her spot by finishing first in her heat with a time of 56.87 seconds, which also placed her fourth overall. Earlier in the competition, she had qualified for the semifinals with a time of 57.93 seconds, winning her opening series convincingly.

The final saw fierce competition, with Tumi Ramokgopa from South Africa taking silver with a time of 55.88 seconds, and Elenia Iakovaki from Greece claiming bronze at 55.99 seconds. In addition to her gold medal, Ștefania set a new championship record of 55.55 seconds during the event.

This remarkable achievement comes after she won the European title in the same event in 2025. Romania sent a total of 11 athletes to the World U20 Championships, with notable performances including Ștefan Alexandru Ciobanu finishing eighth in the shot put with a throw of 19.20 meters. Ștefania's success not only highlights her individual talent but also marks a proud moment for Romanian athletics on the global stage.
