In a nail-biting finish, Romania triumphed over Serbia in the U16 European Championship, thanks to a last-second basket by Sebastian Lăpuște. The final score was 75-73, marking a significant achievement for the young Romanian team.
The championship is currently being held in Oradea, where the best 16 teams in Europe are competing. Romania was placed in Group A, alongside strong contenders Serbia, Lithuania, and Poland. Despite a tough loss against Poland, where they fell by 43 points, the team rallied to deliver an inspiring performance against Serbia.
Sebastian Lăpuște, formerly a junior player for U-BT Cluj-Napoca and now playing in Spain, was instrumental in the victory, contributing 19 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, and 4 steals, resulting in an impressive efficiency rating of +26. Eric Crăciun also played a key role, adding 19 points and 4 rebounds to the scoreline.
