Romania's Solidarity in Action: Acknowledged by France's President for Firefighting Support

Emmanuel Macron publicly thanked Romania for its support in tackling wildfires that have ravaged France, leading to the evacuation of nearly 200,000 people. In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook, he also expressed gratitude to several other nations, including Croatia, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

The wildfires have prompted significant evacuations, with around 197,000 individuals displaced, particularly from the Bordeaux area. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez referred to this evacuation as 'probably' the most extensive during peacetime in France's history. Macron emphasized the unity of the French people, stating, 'France shows what it truly is: a united people, who join forces and support each other.'

In his message, Macron highlighted the tireless efforts of national intervention forces battling the flames and acknowledged the crucial role of local mayors and elected officials in protecting the population. He described the involvement of the A400M aircraft in firefighting operations as a 'demonstration of the adaptability of our armed forces.'

Macron conveyed an unwavering commitment to those affected by the wildfires, promising, 'We will rebuild, we will repair, and we will stand by those affected for as long as necessary.' Additionally, he extended his thoughts to Spain, Italy, Greece, and all nations facing similar fire challenges, noting that Spain has declared a national state of emergency for the first time due to wildfires, with around 70,000 people evacuated in central Spain.

In moments of crisis, Macron's words resonated: 'This is Europe. In times of trial, it gives life to the solidarity on which it is founded.' His acknowledgment of Romania's assistance showcases the spirit of cooperation that defines the continent during challenging times.
