Romania's Exports to the U.S. Reach Historic Highs in 2025
In a remarkable development for Romania's economy, exports to the United States have surged to an impressive 6.4 billion dollars in 2025. This growth reflects the strengthening ties between the two countries and highlights Romania's growing role in the transatlantic trade landscape.
Imports from the U.S. also saw significant figures, totaling around 3 billion dollars in 2025. The balance of trade indicates a healthy exchange, with Romania not only exporting goods but also actively sourcing products from its American partners.
A standout feature of this trade relationship is the export of services, which reached a historic high of over 4 billion dollars. This figure represents a 19% increase from the previous year, showcasing the dynamic growth in this sector.
The IT and communications services dominate these exports, accounting for approximately 60% of the total, which equals 2.4 billion dollars. This highlights Romania's strengths in technology and innovation, making it a key player in the global service market.
Additionally, exports of goods to the U.S. exceeded 2.3 billion dollars, marking a 5% growth compared to 2024. This reflects a robust demand for Romanian products in the American market.
On the investment front, the stock of American direct investments in Romania has surpassed 9 billion dollars, making the U.S. the fourth largest investor in the country and the largest non-EU investor. The cumulative investments from companies within the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) exceed 30 billion dollars, demonstrating the strong economic foundation these businesses have established.
AmCham Romania, which has been a vital player in fostering these relations for over 30 years, brings together more than 600 American, international, and Romanian companies, collectively providing over 250,000 jobs. The total turnover of AmCham member companies exceeds 65 billion euros, further underscoring their significant impact on the Romanian economy.
As we look at the broader picture, transatlantic economic relations have reached a record level of approximately 10 trillion USD in 2025, indicating a robust partnership that promises continued growth and collaboration between Romania and the United States. Vlad Boeriu, the president of AmCham Romania, plays a pivotal role in this ongoing success story.
