In May 2026, Romania's air traffic soared as airports across the country welcomed 2,573,314 passengers. This impressive figure marks a 10% increase compared to the same month last year, demonstrating a robust recovery and growing interest in air travel.

The growth is even more remarkable when considering that the air traffic has surged by 26% since May 2019. This upward trend reflects not only a recovery from the challenges faced in recent years but also an expanding network and capacity of Romanian airports.

Leading the way is Otopeni Airport, which remains the busiest airport in Romania. Following closely behind are the airports in Cluj, Iași, Băneasa, and Timișoara, showcasing the increasing demand for international travel from various regions of the country.

Additionally, the airports in Otopeni, Cluj, Timișoara, Iași, and Oradea have reported the highest numbers of passengers on domestic flights, further emphasizing the significance of air travel within Romania. This growth in passenger numbers is a positive indicator of the country's connectivity and the resilience of its aviation sector.
