Romanian boxers shine at Centura de Aur tournament with three gold medals
Romania's boxing team delivered an impressive performance at the Centura de Aur tournament, securing three gold medals and four silvers. This year's event took place on Friday at the Sala Polivalentă in Brăila, marking the 52nd edition of the tournament.
Among the gold medalists, Daniel Adrian Grigorie triumphed in the 70 kg category, decisively defeating his fellow countryman Ștefan Stavri with a score of 5-0. Jorge Mayeta Juarez followed suit in the 85 kg category, also achieving a 5-0 victory against Andrei Chireacov from Moldova. The third gold for Romania came from Andrei Arădoaie in the 90 kg category, where he won his match against Bobin Chauhan from India with the same commanding score.
In addition to the gold medals, Romania showcased its depth in boxing with four silver medals. Bence Laszo Szocs earned a silver in the 50 kg category, while Marian Alexandru Buleu and Florin Ioniță secured silver in the 75 kg and +90 kg categories, respectively.
The tournament featured a total of 74 athletes from seven countries, highlighting Romania's strong performance with a total of five gold, seven silver, and thirteen bronze medals across both male and female categories. The women's team earned two golds, three silvers, and five bronzes, while the men's team added three golds, four silvers, and eight bronzes to Romania's medal count.
This year's Centura de Aur tournament not only showcased the talent of Romanian boxers but also their determination and teamwork, bringing pride to the nation.
