Romania will proudly participate in the 32nd edition of the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) from June 17 to 21, 2026. The national stand, located at E1.A09, will be hosted by the China National Convention Center.

This year's exhibition will feature over 300 recently published volumes that represent the richness of contemporary Romanian literature, history, art, philosophy, economy, and cultural heritage. The publications are provided by esteemed Romanian publishers including Cartier, Corint, Grafoart, Ideea Europeană, Junimea, Limes, Litera, Polirom, Trei, Vremea, Integral, Tact, Casa Radio, and Editura ICR.

The Romanian presence at BIBF will bring together authors, translators, editors, and cultural sector professionals. A highlight of the program includes two masterclasses conducted by author and illustrator Diana Tivu, focusing on children's literature and the art of illustrated albums. The theme of the masterclasses is "Transmitting Cultural Heritage to New Generations Through Books," with the second session dedicated to "Creating Beloved Characters for Illustrated Books."

In addition to the literary showcases, the fair will see the launch of the Chinese edition of Aura Christi's volume "Grădini austere," published by Shandong Education Press in 2026. The Chinese translation of the Eminescu fairy tale "Făt-Frumos din Lacrimă" will also be presented, published by Liaoning Group in 2025. Furthermore, the volume "Cuprins de o linişte adâncă" by Gao Xing, translated from Chinese, will be released by Ideea Europeană in 2026.

A special event dedicated to the contemporary literature of the Republic of Moldova will be organized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the People's Republic of China. Additionally, Andrei Potlog, director of Editura Ideea Europeană, will receive the prestigious Special Book Awards of China, the highest recognition awarded by the Chinese state to international figures who contribute to the promotion of Chinese culture. The award ceremony will take place on June 16, 2026, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, attended by prominent figures from the international editorial and cultural community.

This recognition underscores the ongoing development of cultural relations between Romania and China. The BIBF will host over 2,500 exhibitors from various countries and regions, and in 2026, the United Arab Emirates will return as the "Guest of Honor" nation. The fair plays a crucial role in promoting publications and facilitating the trading of copyright, serving as a strategic platform for the advancement of the global publishing industry.
