Romania to Host Major International Military Reserve Event
An important gathering of military reserve officers is set to take place in Romania, highlighting the country's role in collective defense. Over 500 reservists will participate in the event, organized by the National Association of Military Officers in Reserve and Retired "Alexandru Ioan Cuza," in partnership with the Ministry of National Defense.
The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Monday, setting the stage for a series of engaging activities. Among these, workshops for young reserve officers and military doctors will provide valuable professional development opportunities.
The event will also feature a civil-military exercise, CIMEX-26, alongside a symposium focused on regional and global security themes. This year's symposium will tackle the topic "Winning the War of Narratives," emphasizing the importance of communication in defense.
In addition to the workshops and symposium, the event will host MILCOMP 2026, a practical military competition that promotes teamwork and skill among participants. Such gatherings serve to enhance Romania's position on the map of European concerns regarding the strengthening of reserve forces.
The Confederation of Interallied Officers in Reserve (CIOR), established in 1948, will play a crucial role in this event. As the largest organization of military reservists globally, CIOR represents the interests of over 1.3 million reservists from 34 NATO member and partner nations. It functions as a non-political, non-profit umbrella organization affiliated with NATO, providing consultancy to the NATO Military Committee on reserve force matters.
Additionally, the Confederation of Interallied Medical Officers in Reserve (CIOMR), also founded in 1948, will be involved, uniting medical personnel from NATO member states' military reserves. The event will further benefit from collaboration with the Interallied Confederation of Non-Commissioned Officers in Reserve (CISOR), which brings together sergeants and corporals in reserve from various nations.
