Romania shines at European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship

Romania has made a remarkable impact at the European Youth Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, securing five medals in total. This prestigious event took place in Rzeszów, Poland, and attracted 950 players from 32 federations for its 25th edition.

Eliza Bădescu stood out by winning both the gold medal in Rapid and the gold in Blitz, competing in the G10 category. Her exceptional performance has brought pride to her team and the country.

Sara Maria Şunea also showcased her talent by earning two silver medals in Rapid and Blitz, competing in the G14 category. Her achievements further highlight the strength of Romanian youth in chess.

Matei Bădescu contributed to the medal tally by finishing with a silver in Rapid, competing in the O10 category. This success demonstrates the rising capabilities of young chess players in Romania.

Other noteworthy performances included Balog Ronaldo and Bejan Eric, who finished fourth and fifth respectively in the O8 category for Rapid. Additionally, Liga Matei secured fourth place in the O10 category, while Cnejev Vladimir-Alexandru placed sixth in the O18 category for Rapid.

In the girls' categories, Dutcovici Sabina-Teodora and Anistoroaei Maria both finished fourth in their respective categories for Rapid, G10 and G12. Anistoroaei Maria also showed her skill in Blitz, finishing seventh in G12.

The tournament not only highlighted the talent of these young players but also reflected the growing enthusiasm for chess in Romania. Their achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young athletes, as well as their coaches and supporters.
