Romania shines at European Junior Olympiad in Informatics, topping the medal table

Romania has achieved an impressive first place in the national rankings at the 10th edition of the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI). This prestigious competition took place in Kaunas, Lithuania, and brought together 100 students from 25 countries.

The Romanian team returned home with a remarkable haul of medals, including two golds, one silver, and one bronze. Among the standout performers was Andrei Nemțișor, an eighth grader at Colegiul Național 'Costache Negruzzi' in Iași, who not only secured a gold medal but also recorded the highest score of the entire competition.

Another gold medal was claimed by Traian Danciu, a seventh grader at the Liceul Teoretic Internațional de Informatică in Bucharest. Meanwhile, Mihai Cosmin Boac, an eighth grader at the same school, earned a silver medal for his impressive performance. The bronze medal was awarded to Radu Pipernea, also an eighth grader, who studies at Colegiul Național de Informatică 'Tudor Vianu' in Bucharest.

The Romanian team was guided by the expertise of teachers Emanuela Cerchez from Colegiul Național 'Emil Racoviță' in Iași and Dan Spătărel from the Society for Excellence and Performance in Informatics (SEPI). Their support was instrumental in this outstanding achievement.

This success follows another remarkable performance by Romanian students, who secured three gold medals and one silver at the Central European Olympiad in Informatics held in Slovenia, showcasing the country's commitment to excellence in the field of informatics.
