Romania secures leadership role at Southeast European Law Enforcement Center

Romania has achieved a significant milestone by winning the position of Director General at the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC). Mădălina-Sorina Vlangăr was elected in the first round during a meeting of the SELEC Council held in Bucharest, marking a proud moment for the nation.

In a competitive bid, Romania stood out against Serbia and Albania for this important role. The success is seen as a vote of confidence in Romania's vision for the future of the organization, as highlighted by Cătălin Predoiu's recent Facebook post.

SELEC, headquartered in Romania's capital, is the only organization in Southeast Europe focusing on operational activities to combat cross-border crime. It brings together 11 member states, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, Hungary, and Turkey.

Predoiu expressed his appreciation for the colleagues at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) who prepared the candidacy, emphasizing the collaborative effort behind this achievement. He also extended his best wishes to Mădălina Vlangăr as she steps into her new role, confident in her ability to lead SELEC into the future.
