Romania secures a spot in the semifinals of the men's team sabre at the World Fencing Championships

Romania has qualified for the semifinals of the men's team sabre event at the World Fencing Championships in Hong Kong. This achievement comes after a remarkable victory over Italy, with a score of 45-36, showcasing the skill and determination of our athletes.

The team, consisting of Vlad Covaliu, Radu Nițu, George Dragomir, and Răzvan Ursachi, displayed exceptional performance, winning five out of the nine relays. Although they faced challenges, with three relays lost narrowly and one ending in a tie, their overall performance has propelled them into the next round.

In the semifinals, Romania will face South Korea, who triumphed over Russia with a score of 45-37. The match is set to begin at 09:10 AM Romania time, promising an exciting showdown.

Earlier in the tournament, Romania showcased its strength by defeating Great Britain with a convincing score of 45-17, despite the UK being ranked 29th in the world. Additionally, the team overcame Venezuela with a score of 45-30.

At the previous edition of the championships, the Romanian sabre team secured a bronze medal, and they are now aiming for an even greater achievement as they advance to the semifinals against formidable opponents.
