Romania leads in internet connection quality among similar-sized countries
Romania has achieved a remarkable milestone by ranking first in a classification of 20 countries with similar land areas, between 119,000 and 477,000 km², for the quality of fixed internet connections. The country boasts an impressive score of 128,587 nPoints, reflecting its commitment to providing stable and efficient internet services.
The data, collected by nPerf between January and May 2026, highlights Romania's superiority in internet performance. Following closely behind is the United Kingdom with 126,638 nPoints, while Sweden ranks third with 126,415 nPoints. Norway and Poland also make the top five, with scores of 123,768 and 116,784 nPoints, respectively.
Germany, landing in sixth place, has a score of 112,635 nPoints, while Tunisia, at the bottom of the list, has a score of 60,427 nPoints. This creates a significant gap of 68,160 nPoints between Romania and Tunisia, showcasing the stark differences in internet quality across these nations.
Romania's high score translates into tangible benefits for its users, including stable connections for video conferencing, seamless 4K streaming, and fast loading times for complex web pages. In contrast, countries with lower scores often face challenges in achieving similar performance, frequently compromising on video quality to provide adequate service.
