Romania celebrates 120 years of ambulance service with a national day of recognition

On July 28, Romania marks the National Ambulance Day, celebrating a significant milestone of 120 years since the establishment of the country's first ambulance service. This historic initiative began in 1906 in Bucharest, thanks to the vision of Professor Nicolae Minovici, whose motto was 'Always for all, ready to help'.

The festivities will kick off in Piaţa Constituţiei at 10:00 AM, gathering approximately 600 delegates from public ambulance services across the nation. A highlight of the celebration will be a parade featuring around 50 ambulances, showcasing the dedication and commitment of emergency medical services in Romania.

In addition to the parade, citizens will have the opportunity to receive free medical consultations at 20 locations throughout the capital. These consultations will include important health checks such as EKGs, blood pressure measurements, and blood glucose tests.

Importantly, the anniversary celebrations will not disrupt the ongoing operations of emergency services. The intervention capacity of each ambulance station will remain intact, ensuring that emergency medical assistance will be provided as usual.
