RIVUS Cluj-Napoca emerges as Romania's first integrated cultural center
RIVUS Cluj-Napoca marks a significant milestone as the first integrated cultural center within a mixed-use project in Romania. This ambitious development is already making waves by hosting cultural events even before its completion, with performances and exhibitions that highlight the vibrant arts scene.
The Hala cu Arcade is transforming into a dedicated space for performing arts and creative industries, set to host theater and dance shows, concerts, exhibitions, festivals, conferences, and workshops. A recent highlight was the contemporary dance performance 'Sculpting Space' and the 'Under Construction' exhibition, which showcased works of painting, photography, sculpture, installation, and visual intervention.
Managed by Sorin Guttman, RIVUS is the largest real estate project currently under development in Romania, spanning 14 hectares on the former industrial site of Carbochim. Once completed, it will feature the largest retail space in the country, measuring 142,000 square meters, with 75% of this space already pre-leased. The project will include over 400 stores, a hypermarket Auchan, the largest concept bookstore Cărturești, and entertainment options like Cineplexx with IMAX technology and a cinema under the stars.
RIVUS is designed to be a cultural and entertainment hub for all ages, aiming to make a regional impact. In support of its green initiatives, it has secured the largest green syndicated loan for a real estate development in Romania, amounting to 400 million euros. This funding is tied to stringent LEED Platinum and EDGE Advanced standards.
The project also promises to enhance accessibility along the Someș River, featuring a new 52,000 square meter park with 700 mature trees and over 100,000 decorative plants. A green roof and vegetated facades will contribute to the sustainability of the site, while a transportation strategy will include a four-lane road bridge and two pedestrian walkways over the river. Additionally, the investment of 7 million euros for relocating and modernizing the Carbochim factory underscores a commitment to revitalizing the area and promoting community engagement.
