Over 2,500 Volunteers Set to Join Romania's Record-Breaking Tree Planting Initiative

On November 7th, over 2,500 volunteers are expected to come together in Prahova County for a remarkable Guinness World Record attempt. The current record, held by India, stands at 2,055 participants planting trees simultaneously on July 9, 2025. The ambitious event is part of the Pădurea Prieteniei project, organized by Kaufland Romania and the Act for Tomorrow Association.

The goal is clear: to surpass the record set in India and create a lasting impact on the environment. Volunteers will plant 35,000 saplings in the village of Cărbunari, located in the commune of Poienarii Burchii, contributing to a new forest that reflects the collective effort of all participants.

Registrations for Pădurea Prieteniei are currently open, but spots are limited. Interested individuals can sign up by completing the registration form available at https://padureaprieteniei.ro/. Participants will receive detailed information about the day's program, site access, and the planting activity's guidelines.

All costs for the event are covered by the organizers and initiative partners, ensuring that every participant can focus on making a difference. The event promises to be more than just a tree-planting effort; it will feature activities for participants and their families, relaxation areas, live music, and collaborative initiatives with partners.

Andrei Coșuleanu, president of the Act for Tomorrow Association, expressed a desire to bring a new record to Romania through a simple yet impactful gesture: planting a tree. He emphasized that this mobilization of thousands could mark the beginning of a national movement, highlighting Romania's potential to utilize unproductive lands for the benefit of communities, agriculture, and biodiversity.

Pădurea Prieteniei also aims to call upon municipalities nationwide to join in identifying underutilized lands. Anna Katharina Scheidereiter, CSR Manager for Kaufland Romania & Moldova, noted that the initiative seeks to unite colleagues, suppliers, and partners alongside thousands of volunteers, showcasing the power of collaborative action.

In its inaugural edition, Pădurea Prieteniei successfully gathered over 600 volunteers and 45 Kaufland partners, planting 16,000 saplings over three hectares. This year's event aims to build on that success, transforming a moment of collective mobilization into a long-lasting contribution to environmental restoration.
