One Million Euros for 28 NGOs to Enhance Mobility and Inclusion Across Romania
Fundația Dacia pentru România is allocating up to 1 million EUR to support 28 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as part of the second edition of the program "Mobilitatea contează." This initiative aims to reduce barriers to education, the job market, and cultural access for various communities throughout the country.
The winners of the program were announced on Monday, October 12, 2026. Out of the 28 funded organizations, 10 will receive financing to continue and expand projects previously supported in the first edition, while 18 NGOs are entering the program for the very first time.
The budget is divided into two categories: up to 300,000 EUR for ongoing projects and up to 700,000 EUR for new initiatives. The funded projects are expected to reach over 15,000 beneficiaries across Romania in the next 12 months.
Among the initiatives, Fundația Leaders will implement a training program focused on the use of artificial intelligence in 10 cities. Additionally, 1,200 high school students will evaluate their digital skills and familiarity with AI.
Asociația Autism Voice will continue its “Work Aid Kit – Mobilitate pentru Integrare” project, aimed at facilitating the integration of neurodivergent individuals into the workforce. Meanwhile, Asociația Go-Ahead plans to create an educational and professional mobility hub for students in technical high schools.
Other efforts include support from Asociația Junior Achievement of România for students transitioning from middle school to high school, and Asociația All Grow continuing educational interventions in communities that have simultaneous classes, where more than 100,000 students currently study.
Projects will also focus on career orientation tools by Asociația Civic Arieș, professional integration for survivors of human trafficking by Asociația Eliberare, and educational and professional guidance for high school students in small communities by Romanian Space Initiative.
Asociația Animest aims to improve cultural access for children and youth from vulnerable communities, while One World Romania will use documentary film as a tool for education and inclusion. Additional projects will address the isolation of elderly individuals and support victims of domestic violence.
Research conducted between August and September 2026 revealed significant barriers to access in education, with 82.8% of the consulted organizations pinpointing the family environment or community background as major causes of unequal opportunities. The findings highlight an urgent need for educational and training support, as indicated by nearly 80% of organizations.
Fundația Dacia pentru România, a nonprofit organization sponsored by Automobile Dacia, was launched in April 2025. Its mission through the “Mobilitatea contează” program is to enhance social and physical mobility, fostering a more inclusive society for all Romanians.
