Noja Paladia celebrates her 111th birthday as Romania's oldest resident

Noja Paladia recently celebrated her remarkable milestone of turning 111 years old, making her the oldest person in Romania and the Balkans. Born on July 20, 1915, she has now gained international recognition for her extraordinary longevity.

On this special occasion, Noja was visited by Mayor Adrian Teban and Diane Dobrean, the director of the 'Valentin Uritescu' Cultural Center. The mayor presented her with a certificate of appreciation, a bouquet of flowers, and a symbolic monetary gift, all in honor of her remarkable life.

During the celebration, Noja expressed her hopes for the future with a heartfelt message to the mayor: 'If God wills, we will see each other next year!'

Noja Paladia is not only the oldest woman in Romania but also the first documented female supercentenarian in the country's history. She holds the 124th position worldwide in the official ranking of the longest-living people. The Gerontology Research Group confirmed her status as a supercentenarian on April 16, 2026.

Currently residing in her own home, Noja is supported by her extended family, ensuring she has the necessary conditions for a peaceful old age. Her daughter, who is 76 years old, is part of this caring network.

While Ilie Ciocan, who passed away on May 27, 2026, holds the national record for longevity at 112 years and 351 days, Noja Paladia continues to inspire many with her vibrant spirit and remarkable life story.
