Modernization of Freidorf Substation Enhances Power Distribution Quality

The modernization of the Freidorf substation is set to significantly improve the quality of electricity distribution for approximately 9,000 customers. With an investment of around 26 million lei, this project represents a major step forward in enhancing energy services in the region.

Originally built in 1979, the Freidorf substation has undergone extensive upgrades since the modernization work began in April 2024. It now features two 110/20 kV transformers, each with a power capacity of 25 MVA, alongside 17 medium voltage cells and various essential components that have all been replaced or upgraded.

In the event of unexpected power outages, the Freidorf substation has the capacity to supply up to 60,000 customers, ensuring that the surrounding areas remain resilient during such times. This capability highlights the importance of the station not only in daily operations but also in emergency situations.

The modernization efforts included the replacement of all 20 kV medium voltage cells, internal services, and neutral treatment groups. Additionally, the installation of digital protections for the 110 kV line cells and transformers marks a significant technological advancement in the facility's operational reliability.

Overall, these upgrades are designed to enhance the resilience of power supply and reduce the duration of any potential outages, ultimately benefiting the local community with improved electricity distribution services.
