Jason Kodor embraces Romanian football journey with Rapid

At just 20 years old, Jason Kodor has made a significant choice for his football career by opting to represent Romania over Australia. This decision comes after he was contacted by Australian representatives at the U17 level, but he ultimately accepted a call-up from Romania during the same period.

Kodor has already made an impressive mark on the youth national teams, accumulating 28 selections across Romania's U17, U18, U19, and U20 squads. His connection to Romania runs deep; although his father is originally from Lebanon and later moved to Australia, Jason grew up in Romania and started his football journey there.

He honed his skills at various clubs, including CS Dinamo, La Sport Team, and CA Oradea, before making a notable move to Lecce in 2022. During his time with Lecce's junior teams, he scored four goals in 12 appearances for Lecce Primavera last season.

On June 29, Rapid officially presented Jason Kodor as their newest signing. He has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029, with Rapid securing his transfer from Lecce, while the Italian club retains 50% of his federative rights. His market value currently stands at 150,000 euros.

Victor Angelescu, the shareholder of Rapid, highlighted that Kodor had been on the club's radar for some time and assured fans that he would have the opportunity to play. So far this season, Kodor has participated in three league matches, totaling 116 minutes of play. He was notably a starter in the match against CFR Cluj, contributing to Rapid's 3-1 victory, while also playing in matches against Sepsi and UTA.

As Jason continues to develop his career at Rapid, he is poised to make a lasting impact in Romanian football, representing both his heritage and the country he calls home.
