DIGI expands telecom services into Belgium with Bpost partnership
DIGI is making strides in the telecom industry by securing a five-year agreement with the Belgian postal service Bpost. This partnership allows DIGI to sell mobile and internet subscriptions in 655 Bpost offices across Belgium, a significant step in their expansion efforts.
The rollout of DIGI's services will begin this summer, with a focus on mobile offerings at the start. Customers will be able to purchase mobile and fixed internet subscriptions directly from the counters, enhancing accessibility in the region.
Currently, DIGI's fiber optic network is under development and is available only in the Brussels area. Jeroen Degadt, the General Director of DIGI Belgium, expressed the company's commitment to providing accessible telecommunications services to everyone across the country.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to transform Bpost offices into integrated service centers, which already offer banking and money transfer services in partnership with BNP Paribas Fortis, Nickel, and Ria Money Transfer. Tina Hernalsteen, Director of Retail & Banking at Bpost, highlighted the importance of introducing essential public utility services, such as telecommunications, through this collaboration.
DIGI, which operates in Romania, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Portugal, had 91,000 mobile users by the end of last year. The selection of DIGI for this project came after a competitive bidding process, where their proposal stood out among several telecom providers.
In addition to its growth in Belgium, DIGI is also planning an expansion into the UK market, having exited Hungary in 2021. The company reported revenues of 2.22 billion euros last year, marking a 15% increase compared to 2024, showcasing its robust growth trajectory in the telecom sector.
