Celebrating Romanian Connections: Diaspora Conference Highlights Opportunities for Growth

The recent conference, ''Diaspora românească - rădăcini și orizonturi'', showcased the incredible potential that the Romanian diaspora offers to the nation. Held on August 12-13 in Iași, the event gathered approximately 200 participants, including community representatives, academics, entrepreneurs, and public administration members.

Organized by the Iași City Hall as part of the annual program ''Sărbătoarea Diasporei - Iașul este ACASĂ!'', the conference took place in the ''Vasile Pogor'' Hall and adopted a hybrid format, allowing wider participation.

Over two days, attendees engaged in workshops and discussions on various topics, including entrepreneurship, communication, education, traditional culture, and the role of mass media. The first day focused on connecting the diaspora with Romania through entrepreneurship, technology, and investment opportunities.

On the second day, themes surrounding educational strategies and traditional culture in the diaspora were explored. The program also featured insights from representatives of Romanian associations abroad, highlighting the diverse perspectives within the community.

Cultural events enriched the conference experience, including a folklore performance by the ''Carpatica'' Folk Ensemble from Torino, marking the fifth edition of ''Ziua Diasporei la Iași''. Additionally, art exhibitions by Dragoș Pătrașcu, Oana Poleacec, and Andrei Pennazio were showcased, with Pennazio's work displayed at the Palatul Roznovanu.

The conference concluded with the launch of a Romanian book or magazine from the diaspora, further celebrating the vibrant contributions of Romanians living abroad. This gathering not only reinforced the ties between Romania and its diaspora but also inspired future collaborations for growth and cultural exchange.
