Celebrating 70 Years of Romania's Partnership with UNESCO

On October 23, at 19:25, TVR Cultural will broadcast the 'Gala UNESCO 70 – România,' celebrating seven decades of collaboration between Romania and UNESCO. This significant event, held at the National Opera of Bucharest, highlights the strong ties that have been fostered since Romania became a UNESCO member in 1956.

Under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, the gala will feature performances by the Romanian Youth Orchestra, with soprano Mihaela Hotea and tenor Andrei Mihalcea among the distinguished artists. The concert will be conducted by Constantin Grigore and will include works by renowned composers such as Mozart, Donizetti, Puccini, and others.

The program, entitled 'UNESCO 70 România – Celebrăm trecutul, construim împreună viitorul,' not only showcases artistic talent but also brings together public figures, diplomats, academics, and members of the UNESCO community in Romania.

The evening will commence with the documentary 'Când muzica devine un limbaj al păcii,' setting the stage for a celebration of Romania's cultural heritage. Additionally, the documentary 'UNESCO România 70,' created by Alexandru Munteanu, explores the fruitful collaboration between the Romanian Television and the National Commission for UNESCO.

The gala represents a culmination of efforts over the years to promote cultural and natural heritage, support education and research, and enhance international dialogue. As the Romanian Television co-produces this event, it continues its tradition of creating films and documentaries dedicated to UNESCO values, reinforcing the importance of this partnership.

Mark your calendars for this special broadcast, as we reflect on a rich history and look forward to a future built on shared values and collaboration.
