Carolina-Andreea Pungă reaches semifinals in 100m at European U18 Championships
Fifteen-year-old Carolina-Andreea Pungă has made a remarkable achievement by qualifying for the semifinals of the 100m event at the European Athletics Under-18 Championships held in Rieti, Italy. Her impressive time of 11.51 seconds secured her the fourth-fastest spot in the heats.
The qualification took place on Thursday, and Carolina's performance has already caught the attention of European Athletics, highlighting her potential on the international stage.
In addition to Carolina's success, the Romanian team, which comprises 20 athletes—11 female and 9 male—also had other competitors in various events. Patricia Elena Nastasă finished 21st in the hammer throw with a distance of 57.83 meters, while Briana Szabo followed closely in 23rd place, launching the hammer 54.33 meters.
Alexia-Teodora Turcu competed in the discus throw, concluding her event in 25th place with a throw of 40.89 meters. In the 400m, Luca Gabriel Ciocoiu recorded the 28th fastest time at 49.35 seconds, while Mario Petrișor Doagă did not start in this event.
With such a talented squad representing Romania, the competition continues to showcase the spirit and determination of young athletes keen on making their mark.
