Amphitrio to Perform with Radio Romania Big Band in a Unique Concert Experience
On Saturday, June 27, at 21:30, the innovative trio Amphitrio will take the stage alongside the Radio Romania Big Band, directed by Simona Strungaru. This collaboration is part of the New Voices of the Big Band project, which aims to promote contemporary creations for big band ensembles.
Formed in 2023, Amphitrio consists of pianist and composer Andrei Petrache, bassist Mike Alex, and percussionist Philip Goron. The trio has already made a significant impact, presenting over 100 concerts in 14 countries and earning accolades such as the Best Composition Award at the Jazz in the Park Festival in 2023.
Amphitrio's repertoire uniquely blends contemporary Nordic jazz sounds with Balkan and Oriental influences, heavy rock, and electronic music. Their discography includes the albums Points and Seasons, released in 2023, with an upcoming album titled Timelines set for release in 2024. Timelines has already garnered recognition, winning the Radio Romania Cultural Award for best album in 2025.
The concert program will feature original arrangements by Andrei Petrache, and the repertoire from the Timelines album will be reinterpreted for the trio and big band format. The concert will take place at Sala Radio and is produced by Nicolae Cozma, with artistic direction by Aurel Badea and visual direction by Gabriel Enulescu.
With such a rich and diverse musical offering, this event promises to be a memorable experience for attendees, celebrating the vibrant landscape of contemporary jazz in Romania.
