At just 24 years old, Alexi Pitu has made a significant comeback to Romanian football by signing a contract with UTA Arad, which is valid until the end of the 2026-2027 season. The talented player, who has previously played for notable clubs such as Bordeaux, Dunkerque, and Vejle, has also left a mark on the international stage as the youngest Romanian to compete in a European competition.

Pitu, who was born in Karlsruhe and developed his skills at the Gheorghe Hagi Academy, left Farul Constanța at the beginning of 2023, with the club receiving two million euros for his transfer to Bordeaux. Now, with UTA, there is an option to extend his contract for an additional year, indicating the club's confidence in his abilities.

Last season, UTA Arad triumphed in the play-out of the SuperLiga, although the team was unable to participate in European competitions or the playoff for the Conference League against FCSB. Despite these challenges, UTA has made a strategic move by bringing Pitu back to the Romanian league.

In a related development, Corvinul has had to adapt its plans due to stadium issues and has signed a one-year contract with the Primăria Arad. They will be relocating to Petroșani once stadium renovations are completed, although the timeline for these works remains uncertain.

Alexandru Meszar, the financier of UTA, has acknowledged the support the team has received from others in the past, highlighting a community spirit in Romanian football. With Pitu's return, UTA aims to strengthen its position in the league and build on its recent successes.
