A new chapter in India-Romania relations marks economic and cultural cooperation

On July 1, 2026, the Indian Embassy in Bucharest hosted an engaging meeting with representatives from the Romanian press, highlighting the expanding partnership between India and Romania across various sectors. This initiative is set to enhance cooperation in economy, technology, energy, and culture, paving the way for mutual growth and understanding.

Ambassador Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, who is also accredited to Moldova, emphasized the positive evolution of India-Romania relations. He outlined the key areas of collaboration, which include trade and investment, education, science and technology, digital innovation, renewable energy, defense, culture, tourism, and human exchanges.

The ambassador remarked on India's rapid transformation over the past decade, underscoring the nation's commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth driven by innovation. He shared insights into the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision, aiming for India to become a developed nation by the centenary of its independence.

During the meeting, an interactive Q&A session allowed journalists to delve deeper into topics such as India's economic growth, foreign policy, digital public infrastructure, investment opportunities, renewable energy, and regional and global developments. The event was coordinated by Mina Cristiana Radu, who highlighted the crucial role of the media in informing the public.

Adding a cultural touch to the proceedings, a Bollywood dance performance showcased India's vibrant heritage as part of the embassy's cultural diplomacy initiatives. This program aims to strengthen human connections and promote Indian cultural heritage in Romania.
