Romania and the Republic of Moldova came together to commemorate the legacy of Mihai Eminescu on June 15, marking 137 years since the poet's passing.

The ceremony took place at the bust of Eminescu, located in front of the Romanian Orthodox Parish in Vienna, where floral wreaths were laid in honor of the national poet. This poignant gesture was attended by diplomats and collaborators from both diplomatic missions, showcasing the strong bond shared between the two nations.

Dr. Andrea Amza-Andras, the chargé d'affaires ad interim of Romania in Austria, and Victoria Roșa, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Austria, were present, along with Ștefan-Claudiu Marin, the Deputy Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna. Their participation highlighted the community of language, culture, and values that unites Romania and Moldova.

The ceremony took on special significance for the Republic of Moldova, coinciding with the opening of negotiations in Luxembourg for Cluster 1 - 'Fundamentals' as part of Moldova's EU accession process. Romanian diplomats emphasized that this historic step confirms Moldova's European vocation, reinforcing the shared aspirations of both countries.

The homage paid to Mihai Eminescu in Vienna was not just a tribute to his literary contributions but also a celebration of the cultural and spiritual ties that bind Romania and the Republic of Moldova together.
