Students from Romania and Bulgaria Explore Cross-Border Culture at Summer School

A vibrant gathering of students from Romania and Bulgaria took place at the CULT Summer School, held in Craiova from July 13 to 17. This initiative brought together participants from the University of Craiova and the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Sviștov, Bulgaria, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and experiences.

The theme of the CULT Summer School revolved around culture and art in the Romanian-Bulgarian cross-border area. Over five days, students engaged in educational and practical activities conducted in English, delving into topics such as art history, spirituality, and the cultural heritage surrounding places of worship.

Participants also had the unique opportunity to learn about conservation and restoration techniques, gaining insights into the methods used in the preservation of religious objects. This hands-on experience was designed to enhance their understanding of the intricate relationship between culture and art in their region.

The CULT Summer School is part of the broader PROMISE-Hard project, which seeks to promote inclusive and quality education through technology, leadership, and sport. Co-financed by the European Union and the European Regional Development Fund, PROMISE-Hard also encompasses courses, summer schools, best practice exchanges, and investments in educational and sports infrastructure.

Through initiatives like the CULT Summer School, PROMISE-Hard aims to develop the skills of students and graduates in both Romania and Bulgaria, ensuring a brighter, more interconnected future for the region.
