Romania shines at International Padbol Cup Sardinia 2026 with a championship victory

Romania has made a remarkable mark in the world of padbol by winning the title of International Champions at the International Padbol Cup Sardinia 2026. With two teams competing, Romania showcased exceptional talent and teamwork throughout the tournament.

Both Romanian teams dominated the competition, winning all their matches in the group stage, round of 16, and quarter-finals. Each team played six matches, demonstrating their skills and determination as they progressed through the rounds.

In the semi-finals, Romania 1, featuring Olivian Surugiu, Victoraș Popescu, and Mugurel Vrabie, triumphed over Italy with a solid 2-0 victory. Meanwhile, Romania 2, consisting of Floris Stănculea, Adrian Cătrună, and Daniel Matincă, also secured a convincing 2-0 win against Spain to advance.

Ultimately, Romania 1 emerged as champions, while Romania 2 finished the competition as runners-up. Floris Stănculea's outstanding performance earned him the title of MVP, as he impressed both participants and organizers with his spectacular plays and precision strikes.

Elisabeta Gherghișan, President of the Romanian Padbol Federation, highlighted that these results reaffirm Romania's status as a major power in the global padbol scene. The athletes benefited from the support of Flux Arena Craiova, Padbol Giurgiu, and ACS Sportul pentru Viitor București, which contributed to their training and development.

The National Agency for Sport supported Romania's participation, while Christian Tour provided essential logistical assistance for the delegation's travel to the competition. This successful campaign not only celebrates the achievements of the athletes but also strengthens Romania's presence in the international padbol community.
